The thematic factsheets published by the Court are designed to help increase awareness of the Court’s judgments among national authorities, journalists and the general public in the Council of Europe member States, with a view to improving the implementation of the Convention at national level.

They were introduced as part of the implementation of the action plan adopted at the High Level Conference on the Future of the European Court of Human Rights, held in Interlaken in February 2010.

Since September 2010, the Court has published more than 70 thematic factsheets on the Court’s case-law. Compiled by theme, the factsheets are regularly updated to reflect the development of the Court’s case-law, and provide the reader with a rapid overview of the most relevant cases concerning a particular topic. New factsheets are published regularly, to reflect new developments in the case-law of the Court.
