About the Library
The library of the Court is an international court library specialised in the European human rights system. Created in 1966 the library has built up an important fund of general human rights literature as well as items on other human rights systems. The majority of the material is in one of the two official languages, French and English, but there are also items in German, Italian, Spanish, Russian and other languages. The library serves primarily the Court and its Registry in their judicial and publishing activities. External researchers are also welcome to come and take advantage of the collection.

The jurisprudential regressions of the European Court of Human Rights
While the Court's interpretation of the European Convention has long been presented as contributing to the expansion of the guarantees offered by this instrument, its contribution to a decline in the level of protection afforded to individuals has emerged more recently in scholarly writings. Drawing on an examination of the Court's case law as a whole, an analysis of its internal practice, and also on the perception of the Convention system by its beneficiaries, this book aims to investigate the reality of these phenomena, which observers have described as "regressions," to identify their manifestations, and to assess their scope.
