Forthcoming hearings

On 4 and 25 March 2026 the Court will be holding two Grand Chamber hearings concerning Türkiye.
The case of Tergek v. Türkiye concerns the withholding of correspondence to the applicant from his wife by the prison authorities. The correspondence consisted of letters, notes, pictures and printed material from internet websites. The letters were ultimately given to the applicant, but the printed material was not passed on to him.
The case of Kavala v. Türkiye (No. 2) concerns the applicant’s detention after the judgment delivered by the ECHR in 2019 and the ensuing criminal proceedings in which he was sentenced to aggravated life imprisonment.
