On 9 December 2025, the President of the Court, Mattias Guyomar, met with the UK’s Deputy Prime Minister, Lord Chancellor and Secretary of State for Justice, David Lammy, and the Attorney General, Lord Richard Hermer KC, in Strasbourg. The judge elected in respect of the UK, Hugh Mercer, the Registrar of the Court, Marialena Tsirli, also attended the meeting. President Guyomar welcomed the UK’s unwavering support and commitment to the Convention system and the Court.
