Solemn hearing
A solemn hearing took place at the Court on 27 January 2012. During the solemn hearing, Sir Nicolas Bratza, President of the Court, and Thomas Hammarberg, the Council of Europe’s Commissioner for Human Rights, addressed an audience of about 300, including many representatives of judicial institutions and local and national authorities.

A judicial seminar on "How can we ensure greater involvement of national courts in the Convention system?" took place on 27 January 2012, at which some 200 leading judicial figures from across Europe were present.
