Led by the President of the Community Court of Justice of ECOWAS, Honorable Justice Ricardo Claudio Monteiro Gonçalves, the delegation exchanged with the President of the Court, Mattias Guyomar, and also met with Erik Wennerström, judge elected in respect of Sweden, to discuss ways of strengthening judicial dialogue and securing the effective enforcement of judgments.
The delegation met several members of the Court Registry and learned more about the Court’s role, in enforcing the European Convention on Human Rights, case processing methods, and its language department.
With a focus on the enforcement of Court judgments, the legal and political tools available for monitoring compliance, and the Court’s relationship with the Committee of Ministers, the delegation also held meetings with representatives of the Council of Europe’s Department for the Execution of Judgments, the Secretariat of the Committee of Ministers, and a Government Agent before the Court.
