Norwegian judges conduct a study visit to the Court
On Tuesday 13 October 2026 Vice-president of the Court Arnfinn Bårdsen received a group of Norwegian judges on a study visit to Strasbourg, organised in cooperation with the Norwegian Court Administration. Assisted by members of the Court’s Registry and the Council of Europe’s Department for the Execution of Judgments, he explained in detail the functioning, the working methods and the challenges of the Court in today’s Europe. In addressing the visiting judges, Vice-President Bårdsen emphasised in particular how judges, national and international, have a shared responsibility in guarding and promoting democracy, the rule of law and the effective protection of fundamental rights, those three values being intertwined and key for maintaining societal stability and direction.
