Visit by the Presidents of the Courts of Appeal of Portugal
On 19 March 2026, the President of the Court of Appeal of Porto, José Igreja Matos, the President of the Court of Appeal of Lisbon, Carlos Castelo Branco, the President of the Court of Appeal of Coimbra, Jorge Loureiro, the President of the Court of Appeal of Évora, Albertina Pedroso, and the President of the Court of Appeal of Guimarães, António Sobrinho, visited the Court. They had the opportunity to exchange views with President Mattias Guyomar, Vice President Ivana Jelić, Section Presidents Lado Chanturia and Kateřina Šimáčková, the judge elected in respect of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Faris Vehabović, the judge elected in respect of Malta, Lorraine Schembri Orland, the judge elected in respect of Portugal, Ana Maria Guerra Martins, the judge elected in respect of Denmark, Anne Louise Bormann, the judge elected in respect of Romania, Sebastian Răduleţu, the judge elected in respect of Slovenia, Vasilka Sancin, as well as Registry staff, including the Deputy Registrar, Abel Campos.
The visit also featured two working sessions focused on freedom of expression and defamation, and on the rights of the child.
