Official visit by the President of Malta to the Court
On 4 November 2025, the 75th anniversary of the European Convention on Human Rights, Her Excellency, the President of Malta, Myriam Spiteri Debono, paid an official visit to the Court, where she was received by Court President Mattias Guyomar. The judge elected in respect of Malta, Lorraine Schembri Orland, and the Court’s Registrar, Marialena Tsirli, also attended the meeting.
Later today, the President of Malta, whose country currently holds the rotating Presidency of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe, will deliver a speech at the solemn ceremony marking the Convention’s anniversary. She will speak alongside Mattias Guyomar, President of the Court; Alain Berset, Secretary General of the Council of Europe; and Theodoros Rousopoulos, President of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe.
The solemn ceremony will be will be broadcast live on the Court’s YouTube channel.
