Last week, the Joint Court of Justice of Aruba, Curaçao, and Sint Maarten and of Bonaire, Sint Eustatius and Saba organised activities to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the European Convention on all these islands that form part of the Convention's Contracting Party, the Kingdom of the Netherlands.

Judge Jolien Schukking, elected in respect of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, was actively involved in the projects on Aruba and Curaçao, where she talked to young people about human rights in practice.

Educational and creative activities took place on a number of the islands in collaboration with local youth theatre and dance organisations.

There was also a roundtable at the University of Aruba, where Judge Schukking gave a keynote speech. Politicians and civil society organisations participated in the discussions. Judge Schukking also met with the Governors.

On Bonaire, St. Eustatius and Saba, moot courts were organised in which young people, under the guidance of a local judge, argued a case on a human rights topic.
