The Court will be delivering a Grand Chamber ruling in the case of L.B. v. Hungary on 9 March 2023.

In this case the applicant complains of the publication of his personal details on a list of tax defaulters on the tax authorities’ website. The details included his name, home address, tax identification number and the amount of unpaid tax which he owed.

The applicant alleges an infringement of his right to respect for private life. He contends that the main reason behind the Hungarian legislative policy of making personal data available was public shaming.
