Croatia: The Court President meets with the Croatian Prime Minister
On 5 November 2026, the President of the Court, Mattias Guyomar, began his two-day visit to Croatia with a meeting with the country’s Prime Minister, Andrej Plenković. The meeting was also attended, on behalf of the Court, by Ivana Jelić, Vice-President of the Court, Davor Derenčinović, judge elected in respect of Croatia, and Abel Campos, Deputy Registrar. On behalf of the Croatian Government, Damir Habijan, Minister of Justice, Public Administration and Digital Transformation, Gordan Grlić Radman, Minister of Foreign and European Affairs, Toma Galli, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary, Permanent Representative of Croatia to the Council of Europe, and Štefica Stažnik, Croatian Representative before the Court also participated in the meeting. The discussions focused on the Court’s role in safeguarding human rights and rule of law across Europe, and the Croatia’s continued and steadfast support for the Convention system.
