Accession of the Court to ACA-Europe as a Guest institution

On 16 May, the General Assembly of ACA-Europe, a European association composed of the Court of Justice of the European Union as well as the Councils of State and the Supreme administrative jurisdictions of each of the members of the European Union, unanimously adopted a resolution on the accession of the European Court of Human Rights to ACA Europe as a “guest”.
This participation is in line with the framework of judicial dialogue and of cooperation and solidarity among all judges and courts, to which the Court attaches great importance.
Ioannis Ktistakis, Section President and judge elected in respect of Greece, participated in the work of the General Assembly on behalf of the Court, which took place in Rhodes, Greece. In his address to the participants, he emphasised the importance of European judicial dialogue, the fundamental role of supreme administrative courts in the effective protection of fundamental rights, and the need to strengthen exchanges between national courts, EU law and the Convention system.
“The participation of the European Court of Human Rights will further strengthen the exchange of case law, joint methodological reflection, and the mutual understanding of the challenges faced by our respective courts,” said Judge Ktistakis, who also attended the seminar entitled “New Elements in the Organisation and Functioning of Public Administration and Administrative Justice”, which was held on 15 May in Rhodes, Greece.
