Court President meets Polish Prime Minister and Ministers in Warsaw

In the context of his visit to Poland for a conference on the 75th anniversary of the European Convention on Human Rights, Court President Mattias Guyomar held a series of high-level bilateral meetings in Warsaw.
On 3 October, President Guyomar met with Poland’s Prime Minister, Donald Tusk, accompanied by the Registrar, Marialena Tsirli, to discuss the rule of law and the role of the judiciary in a democracy.
Accompanied by Anna Adamska-Gallant, judge elected in respect of Poland, and Marialena Tsirli, Registrar of the Court, the Court President also met with Henryka Mościcka-Dendys, Undersecretary of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, who oversees legal and treaty affairs, on 2 October.
On 3 October, they also held a meeting with Waldemar Żurek, Poland’s Minister of Justice, to discuss the importance of the Convention system. The delegation also attended a lunch hosted by Ignacy Niemczycki, Secretary of State in the Chancellery of the Prime Minister, who oversees the Department of European Union Law.
