To gain access to the Human Rights Building, Court and Council of Europe staff are required to present a staff badge, and external visitors, a passport or identity card.

 

 

EXTERNAL USERS :

 

For external users, that is, students, researchers, representatives of parties in cases before the Court, staff of the Permanent Delegations to the Council of Europe, and representatives of non-governmental organisations with research interest in human rights, the library is accessible during the opening hours, by appointment only.
For an appointment, contact the Library at least a week in advance of your visit. External users are met at the building entrance and accompanied to the Library by a librarian.

INTERNAL USERS :

 

For internal users, that is, judges of the European Court of Human Rights, the Registry, the Council of Europe staff and trainees, the library is open from Monday to Friday between 10.00 - 17.00.

 


In the Library:

  • Readers are requested to use the coat stand and lockers provided at the Library entrance for their personal belongings.

  • They are reminded that mobile telephones must be switched off and may not be used in the reading room.
