Opening of the judicial year 2012
The Court's judicial year was formally opened on Friday 27 January 2012. Some 200 leading judicial figures from across Europe were invited to participate in a seminar on the topic “How
can we ensure greater involvement of national courts in the Convention system?”.
At the solemn hearing which followed the seminar, President
Sir Nicolas Bratza and Thomas Hammarberg, the Council of Europe’s Commissioner for Human Rights, addressed an audience of about 300, including many representatives of judicial institutions and national and local authorities.
